My name is Linda Palmer and I have been the Owner/Director of Palmer Preschool and Child Care for the past 7 years. I was born in Indiana and moved to Fort Myers in 1973. My husband, Steve and I have been married for 37 years. We have 2 grown children (Stephanie & Eric) and 7 grandchildren that keep us very entertained! I have been in the child care business for over 30 years. Along with my Director’s Credentials, I have had my Child Development Associate Degree (CDA) since 1987 as well as CPR/First Aid Credentials. I am a member of Florida Association for Child Care Management (FACCM) and Supporting Early Education Develops Success (SEEDS).

Our Teachers:

The quality of a teacher makes the difference in your child’s happiness. Our teachers come to us with a varitey of early childhood backgrounds, but they all have at least one thing in common… a love of working with children and a passion for teaching.

Our teachers must have the following training and requirements:

Required Background Screening includes:

• Local law check (Local Police Dept)
• FDLE (Florida Dept of Law Enforcement)
• FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigations)
• 40 hour training and 5 hour early literacy classes to be started within 90 days of employment as required by DCF
• CPR/First Aid (Pediatric and adult) Certification

At Palmer Preschool and Child Care we have 15 employees:

• 2 with Masters Degrees in Education
• 4 with Associate Degrees in Early Childhood Education
• 5 with CDA’s (Childcare Development Associates Certification)
• 3 with 40 + hours of training classes and exams
• 1 with over “50 years” of cooking and nutritional experience

These dedicated professional go through continual training, conferences and classes. This gives them a thorough understanding of what is necessary to be the kind of educator you expect and we demand. They teach in ways that support children’s academic progress while respecting the way they grow, develop and learn.
