We use Creative Curriculum to meet the daily needs and development of each child. This curriculum is not only research-based but one of the most widely used in the nation. Through ongoing user-friendly assessments, our teachers are able to help each child achieve their age-appropriate milestones and to communicate that progress to parents.

STEAM for 3 year olds

Students explore soil outside during 3's STEAM at our childcare center, Fort Myers FL.
Three-year-olds are learning to trust and build relationships. They are practicing the skills that they learn with their friends, while having fun as they learn through play. They will participate in group games where they learn about taking turns. They will play with music and movement, learning how to follow directions, to discover their individual development, and that sharing is caring.

For example, as when they were 2 they learned to construct complex towers. As 3 year olds they will now be encouraged to make connections between their constructions and collaborate. This will introduce ideas of planning, team work, and evaluation.

Our Knowledge on 3 Year Old Child Care

Between the ages of 3 and 4, your child’s brain and body are growing into the world around them. They have likely even grown to about half of their final adult height! By now, their motor skills have developed so that they can pick up objects without losing balance, have better coordination while walking or running, and may be ready for toilet training. More bodily capability means more activities are needed to keep building on those physical skills and our year-three program is designed with achievable goals of this sort in mind.

Your child will be able to start understanding 2-step commands, to know their first and last name and age, and have an increased attention span. They will begin learning shapes, learning colors, and learning to count! As their communication skills develop, your child’s vocabulary may grow into the hundreds and they will be able to start using plurals and pronouns.
This is often the “why?” stage and your child’s teacher will be there to help provide answers and encourage their investigation of the world around them. While these higher thinking abilities mean that your child is entering a period where they can begin to fear imaginary things, they also mean that your child is capable of activities like sharing toys, learning rules for games and sports, and forming their own interests. Your child’s teacher will work with you and your child to make sure they are able to look forward to learning and establishing the earliest building blocks of their identity.
We know repetition and consistency are important for your child's development. This includes when they're at home. Here's a link to our favorite activities for you to reinforce and continue learning with your child! If you'd link more learning resources, head over to our Resources page here.
