Infant Daycare Fort Myers FL

Why Choose us?

Here at Palmer Preschool & Childcare, we are much more than a daycare. Our Infants are cared for by warm, nurturing teachers who are invested in the developmental growth of each child. We use  the Creative Curriculum to meet the daily needs and development of each child. This curriculum is not only research-based but one of the most widely used in the nation. Through ongoing user-friendly assessments, our teachers are able to help each child achieve their age-appropriate milestones and to communicate that progress to parents.

How Our Infants Learn and Grow

Come see what makes our classroom a fun and exciting place for your little one to learn as they grow! Our teachers are always interacting with them to encourage their development whether it’s through talking, teachable moments, or a planned activity. Through the daily natural routines of feeding, sleeping, diapering, and playing, our caretakers work with each infant to help nurture their sense of self. By promoting this type of teaching through play, singing, and offering stimulating activities, infants are able to learn by exploring. A daily report given to the parent will have information to share with you about their day!

STEAM for Infants

Infants are constantly learning about the world around them, and at Palmer Preschool & Childcare, we do everything in our power to encourage that with targeted concentration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (or, STEAM). Education in STEAM subjects is important towards early development of an infant’s natural curiosity, cause & effect awareness, drawing conclusions, and reasoning abilities.
For example, once they learn that shaking a toy makes noise they will continue to investigate & reason about it. Below are some examples of what is included in our curriculum for infants.
Learn More about STEAM here.

Activities include:

Science: sensory bags, wave bottles, blowing bubbles
Technology: buttons to push, knobs to turn, wheels to spin
Engineering: stacking blocks, establishing spatial awareness
Art: learning colors, creating personal (and priceless) feet-hand-finger art
Math: counting objects, making patterns, using words like “more” & “all gone”

Our Knowledge on Infant Child Care

Infants are very limited in their abilities to interact with the world around them, but our caregivers are experts in the limitations of infant communication and in infant needs. In this stage of development, your child will go from needing to be held to wanting to crawl around, and physical movement is important for muscle development. Likewise, visual and verbal stimuli are important for brain development. Talking to infants conversationally teaches them how words work and prepares them for communication as a toddler. Infants love faces and human voices and our staff will be here with bright smiles, songs, stories, and other sensory stimulation to help them make those important neural connections.

In the first few months, infants exercise primitive reflexes (Babinski reflex, Moro reflex, palmar hand grasp, etc.). From 4-6 months these primitive reflexes will start to be replaced by more controlled (though still uncoordinated) actions, their eyesight improves, and they’ll begin making vowel sounds. In the next six months they’ll start babbling and laughing, then progress into imitating sounds and even responding to simple verbal commands!
Our caregivers will be with you and your child every step of the way to help you mark their progress and ensure their happy growth into a toddler.
We know repetition and consistency are important for your child's development. This includes when they're at home. Here's a link to our favorite activities for you to reinforce and continue learning with your child! If you'd link more learning resources, head over to our Resources page here.
