The Library Area is a very important part of our classroom and of your child's life. It is where children gain the foundation for reading and writing. It is also a place where children can relax and enjoy the wonderful world of books. Children develop the motivation and skills necessary to read, scribble and write throughout the day. Children have stories read aloud to them three times a day. They are also able to look through books on their own, listen to story tapes, and discuss familiar stories, rhymes and phrases. Reading introduces new ideas, helps children learn how to handle problems that come up in life, and mostly encourages them to develop the love for books. If they love stories, they will be eager to read on their own, practice reading and ultimately, read for their own information or pleasure. Once they become readers, their world is enriched forever.
