STEAM
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Teachers are able to promote learning experiences that allow children to explore, question, research, discover, and exercise innovative building skills through play and discussions. Education in STEAM subjects is important in early development of a young child’s natural curiosity, cause & effect awareness, drawing conclusions, and reasoning abilities. These targeted concentrations will bring your child the ability to ask questions and experiment with finding answers as they become active learners. These are extremely important skills and that's why we incorporate STEAM at all levels of learning!
Through the exploration of STEAM we have added interesting materials and experiences to help promote problem solving while developing skills of creativity and determination. Part of this development of lifelong learning skills includes the utilization of themed activity interest centers which we like to call Imagination Destination. Our curriculum is not only research-based but one of the most widely used in the nation. Through ongoing user-friendly assessments, our teachers are able to help each child achieve their age-appropriate milestones and to communicate that progress to parents.

All of this and more will make your child’s time at Palmer Preschool the perfect place to start off their path of learning.
Each of these activities will stimulate your child’s brain and learning. For example, Light Table is used to enhance literacy, math, and writing skills in a fun, playful way. The soft glow and reflecting colors are very soothing for children while they are learning and building skills. During art they may draw, or create suncatchers out of clear contact paper, or gather leaves to do leaf rubbings. This will teach them about nature and shapes.
We also make science accessible with projects like “Go Away Germs!” using soap and pepper, and “Cloud in a Jar”. You'll learn all about these experiments when your child comes home excited to tell you all the fun they had learning with us. |
Your child will be excited to learn and grow at our childcare center!
