Toddler Daycare Fort Myers FL

Why Choose us?

Here at Palmer Preschool & Childcare, we are much more than a daycare. Our Toddlers are cared for by warm, nurturing teachers who are invested in the developmental growth of each child. We use Creative Curriculum to meet the daily needs and development of each child. This curriculum is not only research-based but one of the most widely used in the nation. Through ongoing user-friendly assessments, our teachers are able to help each child achieve their age-appropriate milestones and to communicate that progress to parents.

How Our Toddlers Learn and Grow

As children become more mobile, learning experiences need to offer more discovery and exploring. Toddlers are full of energy, and they need to have the opportunity to jump, run, and stay busy. To promote physical development, we have created a variety of learning experiences to help with the discovery of the world around them as they begin to explore. Through play and stimulating activities throughout the day, our toddlers become independent learners.

STEAM for Toddlers

STEAM for Toddlers is important because they are naturally filled with curiosity and always ready to discover and explore. Our teachers give them the opportunity to help them become future innovators and problem-solvers. We take the infant STEAM curriculum and build upon it, allowing your children to begin taking more active involvement and continue building upon the neural connections made in infancy - now doing more than watching.
For example, as they learn to stack tall towers we will introduce new materials. This will allow them to use their imagination while building and investigate the strength and stability of different materials.

Toddler activities include:

Science: sensory bottles, feely bags, wave bottles, blowing bubbles
Technology: buttons to push, knobs to turn, wheels to spin
Engineering: stacking blocks (taller than before!), adding other materials

Our Knowledge on Toddler Child Care

Being a toddler is about improving motor skills! Your child will learn to stand well by themselves and begin taking their first steps. Running, jumping, and being able to kick a ball are in their near future. They will want lots of things to do and see, and our classrooms are designed to provide them with fun experiences outside of the home. They’ll build up their fine motor skills with activities like coloring, making towers out of building blocks, and starting to use utensils. This age is where your child begins learning skills of independence and we are here to help them with that through opportunities to safely exercise, play, and speak. There will be periods of both structured and unstructured play to provide them with guidance as well as freedom as they develop and explore their understanding of the world. Your child will start learning to indicate specific needs, and to ask for help when they need it and our caregivers are here to encourage those instincts. Their language skills will develop with saying more words, following simple commands, and recognizing things by name. Interacting with their teachers and classmates will begin giving them foundations for further language and social development!

Their cognitive development - creative thinking, how they explore and figure things out about the world - is expanding. They are beginning to understand the process of cause and effect. Their ability to pay attention and remember improves as well. Developing their communication skills means our teachers will spend lots of time with them talking together, using encouraging words, reading to them, singing, and playing games.
Social and emotional development progresses as children start to understand who they are, what they are feeling and what to expect from others and the world around them. We will teach them how to experience, manage, and express emotions. This starts by reading both books and facial features, and by playing with stuffed animals. Our approaches to learning are about the skills and behaviors that children use to engage in learning. This important part of development helps children to manage emotions and behavior to create a more positive learning experience!
We know repetition and consistency are important for your child's development. This includes when they're at home. Here's a link to our favorite activities for you to reinforce and continue learning with your child! If you'd link more learning resources, head over to our Resources page here.
